May 1, 2017
10:00 am – 4:00 pm
CASA 2017 Annual Educational and Training Seminar
Holiday Inn
Saratoga Springs, NY

The Association of Food and Drug Officials is sponsoring a free FSMA Workshop, on May 1, 2017, which is the first day of the CASA 2017 Annual Educational and Training Seminar. The workshop will be held from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm with a break for lunch. Coffee and beverages will be provided.

The objective of the training is to provide participants with information to enable them to distinguish the seven FSMA rules and their basic implementation strategies. Speakers will include Joe Corby with AFDO, who will start the workshop off with on presentation the purpose of FSMA and how it is driving the development of an Integrated Food Safety System to protect public health. It will be followed by a brief overview of FSMA implementation timelines by Jim Melvin also with AFDO.

FDA staff will provide a brief overview of the 7 FSMA rules. Their overview will be followed by a description of the implementation path for the PC for Human Foods, PC for Animal Foods and Foreign Supplier Verification Rules.

FDA will be followed by a panel of CASA members who will talk about the steps their state programs are taking to implement the PC for Human Food and Produce Rules.

Jim and Joe will then close the workshop with a presentation on training process and opportunities.
